SCHOLARSHIP

TASO EXPERIENTIAL ATTACHMENT TO COMBAT HIV/AIDS (TEACH)

Project Background

In 2005 The AIDS Support Organisation (TASO – Uganda) received a grant from Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), to carry out a three (3) year intervention of short term skills building for HIV/AIDS service providers in Africa by way of placements (hands on training). The project concluded the first phase in December 2007 and the grant of 600 scholarships has been renewed for another three (3) years (2008-2010).

The decision for this intervention stemmed from the need by various countries most affected by HIV/AIDS to put together a proficient group of service providers to meet the ever-increasing demand for HIV/AIDS care and support.

Project Mandate
To implement and co-ordinate experiential learning activities for HIV/AIDS service providers from private and public institutions of developing countries in Africa.

Project Goal
To strengthen the capacity of public and private organizations in Africa involved in the provision of HIV/AIDS care and support services.
