Location

TASO Southwestern Regional offices are located in Mbarara District on plot 13 Lower Circular Road close to Mbarara Boma grounds. It is less than one Kilometer from the Mbarara -Kabale main road. The offices are located opposite Mbarara University faculty of Development Studies building.

Management.

The Regional office is headed by the Regional Manager Mr. Michael Matsiko, assisted by the Regional Trainer Capt. Jeremiah Kashoboorozi, Assistant accountant Ms Natukunda Oliver, Secretary/Cashier Ms Kyobutungi Enid. In addition a few support staff assist the team. A few support staff further assists the team.

Main Functions

TASO Southwestern Regional office was established in January 2003 following TASO'S strategic plan 2003-2007.

The Southwestern Regional office is in charge of TASO'S operations in the Southwestern Region of Uganda. It is charged with the responsibility of building of or strengthening capacity to districts with in the Southwestern region that do not have TASO like services. The regional office is also charged with the responsibility of networking with other relevant stakeholders, provide technical support to TASO centers with in the region and establish Mini TASOs with in the strategic Hospitals.

The regional office is also responsible for identification and support of relevant CBOs through technical support, capacity building and provision of seed grants to supplement HIV/AIDS activity implementation.

The regional office has the responsibility of initiating, co-coordinating and provision of TASO training in HIV/AIDS in the region.

Coverage

The Southwestern region covers the following districts of Uganda;
Masaka, Rakai, Sembabule, Mbarara, Ntungamo, Rukungiri, Kabale, Bushenyi, Bundibugyo, Kabalore, Kamwengye, Kanungu, Kasese, Kisoro and Kyenjojo.

Service coverage

Southwestern Region has three main TASO centers of Mbarara, Masaka and Rukungiri. It also has Mini-TASOs in Kilembe Mines hospital Kasese, Kabale Referral hospital and Virika hospital a CBO in Fort portal. Further interventions are in Kisoro, Kyenjojo and Sembabule districts.
