The AIDS Support Organisation (TASO), an organisation contributing to a process of Preventing
HIV, restoring hope and improving the quality of life of persons and communities affected by
HIV/AIDS in collaboration with the Strengthening HIV Counsellor Training (SCOT) project aiming at
strengthening and standardising HIV Counsellor training Curricula seek the services of highly skilled,
experienced and motivated persons to fill the following positions;

Job Title: Assistant Technical Training Advisor
Reports to: The Technical Training Advisor (T.T.A)
Terms of Employment: Contract
Purpose of the Job: To assist the Technical Training Advisor, SCOT, in the provision of
organizational capacity to strengthen HIV/ AIDS counsellor training efforts.
Minimum Qualifications:
A degree in Social Work and Social Administration, or related disciplines.
Knowledge of the HIV policy frame work and up-to date knowledge of HIV/AIDS interventions
Skills: HIV counselling skills for different approaches
Adult Learning/ Training skills
Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
Experience: 5 years in HIV counselling training, supervision and participation in development
of HIV/ AIDS related curricula.
Main duties and Responsibilities1) Assist the T.T.A in the planning, organization and co-ordination of the process of the HIV Counsellor
Accreditation system in Uganda.
2) Work closely with the M&E officer and the T.T.A to design, implement, and analyse evaluation of training
of trainers (T.O.Ts), Counsellor and Counselling Supervision training programmmes.
3) Participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of curricula and training/
instructional materials designed based on adult learning principles
4) Ensure that the training and supervision reports and related data are effectively done, and stored.
5) Participate in the co-ordination of training activities as directed by the T.T.A
6) To support the librarian have up-to-date literature for HIV Counselor training and
capacity building in the resource centre.
Duty Station:Strengthening HIV Counsellor Training (SCOT) project
Reports to: Curricula/Instruction Design Specialist
Terms of Employment: Contract
Purpose of the Job: To provide technical support to the Curricula/Instruction Design Specialist in
ensuring development of training curricula, training manuals and materials relevant to HIV/AIDS counsellor
training and development.
Qualifications:
A good first degree in Education, Social Sciences, Adult and continuation education or its
equivalent and an advanced or post graduate qualification in instructional design or curriculum development.
Other Requirements
5 years experience in the development and coordination of the design of training
materials for HIV or Adult education training curricula.
Advanced understanding of Curriculum design, development, pre-testing and assessment.
Good Knowledge about HIV/AIDS counselling, impact and mitigation
Pleasant, well focused and thoroughly professional with good interpersonal skills
" Good/Excellent computer skills for word processing
Main duties and Responsibilities
1) Supporting the coordination and development of HIV Counsellor training and learning materials
for HIV Counsellor Training Institutions in Uganda
2) In liaison with C/IDS, guiding the determination of appropriate design methodologies and
using creativity in design to transform complex information into effective instruction.
3) Creatively designing learning resources such as print-based materials, audio-visual and
Internet based resources that are appropriate to the existing and or new curriculum.
4) Providing technical support to trainers and service providers in the development of curricula
and Orienting Trainers of Trainers and service providers in the use and adaptation of the newly developed Curriculum
5) Supporting the process of organising the delivery, monitoring and evaluation (Mid term or end of term evaluation)
for the implementation of the newly developed curricula.
Duty Station:Strengthening HIV Counsellor Training (SCOT) project
Reports to: Positive prevention (PP) Team Leader
Terms of Employment: Contract
Main Duty: To implement the training function of the Prevention or PP
Minmum Qualifications:
A degree in Social Work and Social Administration, or related disciplines. Knowledge
of the HIV policy frame work and up-to date knowledge of HIV/AIDS interventions
Skills:HIV counselling skills for different approaches
Adult Learning/ Training skills
Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
Experience:5 years in HIV counselling training, supervision and
participation in development of HIV/ AIDS related curricula.
Other Requirements:
At least 3 years of work experience in a similar position in
a non-profit making, business or government setting relevant to the requirements of this job.
Excellent HIV/AIDS counseling/training skills, adult training and interactive training skills will be an added advantage.
Demonstrated proficiency in computer applications including Word Processing, spreadsheets, database,
presentation packages and internet and e-mail use.
Demonstrated skills in written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated organizational skills
Good networking, public relations and interpersonal skills
Good written and oral reporting skills
Demonstrated ability to support and supervise service providers and PHAs on training.
Roles and Responsibilities
1)Assess the training needs of HIV/AIDS service providers in
the PP areas of operation with a view of determining the need for training, skill levels./ul>
2)Participate in the development and design of the different PP training materials
3)Develop PP Training activity plans
4)Identify resource persons to implement training activities.
5)Coordinate and implement training programs for PP
6)Organize networking events in PP areas of operation with a view of sharing of knowledge and ideas.
7)Participate in managing M & E data for PP and SCOT, by availing data, providing input for development
of M & E tools, training in M& E, recording, analyzing, storage and dissemination of findings
8)Support and supervise PP trainers and trainees during practicum and after capacity building interventions.
9)Write and disseminate PP training reports to PP teams as per PP / SCOT reporting formats and schedules.
10)Document best practices for service provider training and PP counseling activities
11)Represent PP training and other relevant fora
12)Actively participate in staff meetings
13Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
