Prof. David Serwadda is the new Chairman of the TASO Board of Trustees. He was unanimously elected during the 21st Annual General Meeting held on Saturday 22nd Sptember 2012 at Wonder World Amusement Park in Kansanga.
A doctor, lecturer and researcher by profession, Prof. Serwadda brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in the field of medical research and HIV and AIDS in Africa, the world and especially in Uganda to the TASO Board.
His major interests include;
- Epidemiology of HIV
- Surveillance systems for Infectious Diseases
- Evaluation of HIV intervention programs
- Opportunistic infections in AIDS.
Also elected to the Board is Dr. Rhoda Wanyenze. She also has a strong interest in HIV and AIDS in Uganda. Her PhD thesis was on Provider Initiated HIV Testing and Counselling in Uganda. An area that is of great interest to TASO.
She is currently Program Manager, Makerere University SChool of Public Health - CDC HIV/AIDS Fellowship programme. She has also carried out several consultancies within the field of HIV programming in Uganda.
TASO is privildeged to have both Prof Serwadda and Dr. Wanyanze on board; and looks forward to benefitting from their contribution and enthusiasm to the improvement of the lives of those infected and affected by HIV and AIDS.
Appreciation goes to the outgoing members of the Board Dr. Juliet Tembe - Chairperson and Ms. Agnes Nyamayarwo for their tireless efforts in guiding the TASO BOT.
