There is strengthened evidence that food and nutrition security interventions are a critical component of HIV care and treatment. This affirmation is a result of an Action-Research Partnership carried out between The AIDS Support Organization (TASO) and the Regional Network on AIDS, Livelihoods, and Food Security (RENEWAL), facilitated by International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) in 2011.
The aim of the Action-Research was to contribute to the undersatnding of the role of food assistance in improving health and nutrition outcomes of people living with HIV (PLHIV) at the individual level and socioeconomic impacts at the household level.
A summary report of this action research is availbale in this link.
