A new study conducted among HIV-infected adults in Uganda has shown that HIV infected adults on ART with CD4 counts >200 cells/µL who discontinue Cotrimoxazole prophylaxis have increased risk of malaria and diarrhea. The findings of this study are contained in an article published in the Clinical Infectious Diseases Journal, Volume 54, Issue 8. With these findings, the researchers have recommended continued Cotrimoxazole prophylaxis among HIV infected adults on ART to reduce incidence of malaria and diarrhea.
