During the United Nations General Assembly High Level meeting on AIDS in New York, world leaders came up with new targets to fight the rise of HIV infection.
Countries agreed to advance efforts towards reducing sexual transmission of HIV and halving HIV infection among people who inject drugs by 2015.
Some of the highlights include;
1. Treatment; 15 Million more people living with HIV/AIDS globally put on treatment by 2015 (current number on treatment globally is 6.6 Million)
2. Focus on reduction of Tuberculosis related death among people living with HIV/AIDS by 50% and 3. End Mother-to-Child Transmission of HIV.
