TASO Elects New Board Members
The voting members of The Aids
Support Organization (TASO) elected
four new Board Of Trustees (BOT) committee members on
September 23, 2006, to replace those whose terms of office
had expired. The sixteen member committee of the organization's
supreme governing body is composed of the Chairperson, The Vice Chairperson,
the General Secretary, four (4) Members, Two (2) client council Representatives,
Four Regional Advisory Council (RAC) representatives and the Executive Director
as an ex-officio who has no voting rights. The BOT is created by article 5 of
the 1994 TASO constitution (Amended in 2005) and is charged with, among other things,
ensuring that the organizations policies and activities are in accordance with its objectives. |

The posts that had fallen vacant in 2005
included the Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, and Two Board
members. The previous Vice chairperson, Ms Juliet Tembe was
elected as the new Chairperson for the next three years; Rev. Willy Olango,
formerly Northern region representative to the Board was elected as new vice chairperson
while Ms Agnes Nyamayarowo (formerly Female clients Representative) and
Mr. Ndawula Mutebi (formerly Western Region Representative) were
elected as members of the Board, in an exercise that was carried out at TASO's
15th Annual General Meeting at Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA) show ground,
Lugogo, on September 23 2006. |
